Assessments

The assessment instruments provided comprise the Design Team Readiness Assessment (DTRA). The DTRA is geared for use in freshman and sophomore level classes, but it may also be used to good effect with upper class students. The instrument is a tool to enhance the learning of team-based engineering design.

DTRA Component 1

Design Team Knowledge Assessment

Constructed response questions to determine an individual student's foundational knowledge about the engineering design process, teamwork, and communication.
(Completion Time: 15 minutes)

DTRA Component 2

Design Team Performance Assessment

Team design activity requiring self-directed team formation and creation of a design product. Evidence of achievement is obtained from completed log sheets and a design product.

Design Team Reflection Assessment

Reflective essay about a student's understanding of team design activity conducted previously.
